1.   Free skating at Southwest Rink at Skyline Park 16th and Arapahoe Downtown Denver

 

A collaboration between Southwest Airlines and Downtown Denver Partnership brought a freebie fun for skating enthusiasts that opened on November 26, 2013 and will continue to bring the skate-for-free holiday event until February 16, 2014. Not yet a skating fan? Learn now for free! Just drop by on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and you get to learn without a cost. Lessons are absolutely free of charge and open to all ages. 2.   Ice skating on the Evergreen Lake 29612 Upper Bear Creek Road

 If you are more adventurous and prefer the great outdoors, head to the Evergreen Park and Recreation District which is about a 20-minute drive from Denver. The Evergreen Lake Park is open for holidays from December 23, 2013 – January 1, 2014.

3.   Colorado Ballet: The Nutcracker 1101 13th St, Denver 

The Christmas holiday will not be complete without this classic from Tchaikovsky, featuring unforgettable characters performed by the Colorado Ballet at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with matinee and evening performances from November 30 – December 28, 2013. . Be transported to the magical Land of Sweets as Clara’s gift of a nutcracker opens up to a new world of sugar plums, glittering snowflakes, and other delights.       The Blossom of Lights makes a comeback this year to the Denver Botanic Gardens on York St. with a million glittering lights in simultaneous breathtaking display with the Trail of Lights in Denver Botanic Gardens in Chatfield. Every night from November 29, 2013 – January 1, 2014, York Street and Chatfield are transformed into glistening passageways and illuminated pathways from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm to see the most beautiful spectacle of lights reminiscent of a Christmas fairytale.
