Colfax Marathon

“We strive to make the courses interesting and fun, and give runners the opportunity to experience things that are uniquely Denver as they run,” said Andrea Dowdy, CEO of the Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon.

Registration is now open for one of the biggest races in the country – the Colfax Marathon – now on its 9th year on the weekend of May 17-18, 2014. Held annually as Run Denver’s springtime race, Colfax Marathon has a distance for everyone, whether for a neophyte runner or a hardcore marathoner, with a total of seven races in all in the course of two days in the Mile High City.

 Colfax Marathon Categories

The Marathon race is a 26.2 mile, 5,280 feet elevation Boston Marathon qualifier. It passes through the Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium twice during the race, Denver Fire Station #1, Sloan Lake, City Park, and Colfax Avenue. Run free with a grand view of the Colorado Rocky Mountains!

Colfax 5k kicks off the race weekend at Denver’s beautiful City Park. A fun run for everyone including families and kids, this is a great race to join for newbie participants.

The Half Marathon is the only race that runs through the Denver Zoo. From historic Park Hill neighborhood through Aurora Fire Station #1, this race sold out in 2013. A clear sign that the Half Marathon is a Colfax popular category and an easy favorite among runners.

The Urban 10 Miler is THE Colfax Marathon experience – the final miles of the marathon course. This race features a run through the stadium, Confluence, and Downtown Denver. Looking for a shorter race but not without a challenge? Register for a slot in this race now! Limited slots are available and with spots selling out like pancakes for the last two years, this year expect it to be no different.

Marathon Relay is teamwork at its best! Running 26.2 miles through the Mile High City in groups of five runners in one of three divisions: Corporate Relay, Government Relay, and Open Relay – is Olympic style of passing the baton minus the pressure of hitting the Gold. This is a pure fun relay race with co-workers and friends!

Run for a Cause

Colfax Marathon is more than just a race. It is an event that opens doors for support to many charities in Denver. With charity partners, Colfax Marathon also advocates numerous causes and raises awareness to the missions of these local charities. In 2013, Colfax Marathon partnered with 122 non-profit organizations to help raise funds for these organizations.

This year, Stand Up for Kids-Denver is one of Colfax Marathon’s charity partners. A non-profit organization founded in 1990 in San Diego, CA by a group of volunteers, Stand Up for Kids’ mission is to end the cycle of youth homelessness across America. From its conception in one city, it has grown into a national organization with operations in 16 states including The District of Columbia. Stand Up for Kids Denver chapter is one of the organization’s teams that actively implements their projects with dedicated volunteers who fight against youth poverty and homelessness in the streets of Colorado.

Non-profits invite participants to join the Colfax Marathon and register under their organization in order to raise awareness for their cause and to raise funds. 100% of the registration fees from runners who sign up under a non-profit go to the organization.

In this regard, we invite you to join the Colfax Marathon weekend in May 2014 and register under Stand up for Kids-Denver. 100% of the funds raised from all the sign- ups will go to the projects of Stand up for Kids, such as distribution of food and clothing, hygiene products, and resource information to the homeless, street kids, and at risk youth in Denver, and for programs focused on helping these youth acquire life skills so they can survive off the streets, helping to build a foundation away from living on the streets.
